Becoming Catholic

OCIA at St. Francis

Each year at the Easter Vigil, we joyfully welcome new members into the Catholic Church through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). This sacred celebration in which we memoralize the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord is the perfect moment for candidates to receive the Sacraments through which they are fully initiated into the Church, surrounded by the faith-filled assembly.

If you’ve felt a stirring in your heart to explore the Catholic faith, we warmly invite you to begin this journey with us. Many who have walked this path at St. Francis describe it as a grace-filled experience—one that deepens their relationship with God and leads to a life of ongoing conversion and discipleship.

Who is OCIA for?
The OCIA process is open to:

  • Those who have never been baptized
  • Those baptized in another Christian tradition
  • Baptized Catholics who have not yet received Confirmation and/or the Eucharist
  • Anyone curious about the Catholic faith, even if you're not ready to make a commitment

OCIA is not simply a class or program—it’s a journey of faith. It’s a process of discernment and spiritual growth that unfolds within the community of believers. While we follow a general calendar, we recognize that true conversion happens in God’s time, not ours.

We encourage future catechumens, candidates, and sponsors to explore this site to learn more about the journey, find answers to Frequently Asked Questions, and discover how OCIA might be the next step in your faith life.

We’d love to hear from you!
