Library Hours
The library will be open 30 minutes before and after each scheduled weekend Mass as follows:

  • Saturday: 4:30PM - 6:30PM
  • Sunday: 8:30AM - 1:30 PM

All other times the Library will be closed and locked. If a parishioner would like access during those other times, a key can be signed out at the parish office. Signing out a key to the library during off hours requires:

  • parishioner must be 18 years or older, otherwise accompanied by an adult;
  • completion of library key check-out form;
  • signature of key check-out form; and,
  • leaving a driver’s license or picture ID at the parish office until key is returned.

Normal precautions should be taken by all library users to protect personal belongings. The Geneva Smithe Library will not be responsible for the loss of theft of personal items at any time.

Checking Out Materials

  • A clipboard with sign-out sheet, pencil, date due stampers, and ink pad will be available on the center table
  • Patrons should write the date, their name and telephone number, names of books and/or videos, and barcode number(s) on sign-out sheet
    • Volunteers may be available to do this writing, if it is helpful for patron
  • Barcode numbers are found on the white label on the back of the book or video…it is a 5 digit number
  • Stamp the date due slip(s) inside books & videos
  • Books are checked out for 3 week; audio, video, and magazines for 1 week

Fines, Renewals, & Loan Periods

Books are checked out for 3 weeks; audio, video, and magazines for 1 week. There is no limit to the number of books you can check out.

Although we have no library fine, per se, we kindly welcome donations for any damaged or lost materials.

Children Using the Library
We encourage children of all ages to visit and enjoy the library. Any child over six is allowed to use the library him or herself. However, we want the library to be a safe and fun experience for children. You can help us accomplish this by not leaving small children unattended, even while you're in the church.

  • No food or drink in the library
  • No children under the age of six unattended
